Richard Ovenden’s Burning the Books shortlisted for Wolfson History Prize

Huge congratulations to Richard, head of the Bodleian Library, whose wonderful Burning the Books: A History of Knowledge Under Attack, has been shortlisted for the £40,000 Wolfson History Prize.

The winner will be announced on June 9th, and the paperback of Burning the Books – complete with striking new cover – will be released on May 27th. You can pre-order it here.

This marks the second year running that an FBA title has been recognised the UK’s most prestigious history prize, following John Barton’s 2020 shortlisting for A History of the Bible.
