Reni Eddo-Lodge Receives Nielsen Gold Bestseller Award

Posted on 31/03/2021

Reni Eddo-Lodge’s Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race has picked up multiple awards since its release in 2018 – including the Jhalak Prize, the Foyles and Blackwells Non-Fiction Book of the Year, and the British Book Awards Non-Fiction Book of the Year, and now it has another.

The Nielsen Gold Bestseller Award comes in recognition of Why I’m’s incredible sales – sales that saw it surpass 52 weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller list, become the #1 bestselling eBook over summer 2020, and make Reni the first ever Black-British author to top the UK charts, as people sought to educate themselves about contemporary race issues in the wake of Black Lives Matter.

Last year, Reni donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund as sales began to rise following the murder of George Floyd, and this year she has donated to the feminist organisation Level Up and the migrant rights charity We Belong. You can read about these organisations and Reni’s motivations in her blog post here.
