We are delighted to welcome Robin Ganderton to the FBA team!

Born in Wales, Robin studied literature at York and has just completed a master’s in Creative Writing at Oxford.  His short stories have won or been shortlisted for various prizes – including the PEN International New Voices Award – and in 2016 and 2017 he was selected as a Hay Festival ‘Writer at Work’.  Currently, he is working on a historical novel spanning the Soviet era, A Spoken Word Is Not A Sparrow, based on the life of Russian gunsmith Mikhail Kalashnikov and dealing with questions of grief and responsibility.  He is also a big fan of the theatre, and has just co-authored his first play, a black comedy about sex, kidnapping, and Chinese food.

When not writing, reading, or messing around in bookshops, he enjoys swimming and taking bad photographs, most of which end up on Instagram (@impropaganda)
