Frankopan explores The New Silk Roads
Posted on 17/07/2018
International bestseller Peter Frankopan returns this autumn with The New Silk Roads: The Present and Future of the World, publishing in November 2018 (Bloomsbury).
The Silk Roads quickly became an international phenomenon when it published in 2015 and has sold over a million copies worldwide. The New Silk Roads brings the historical narrative up to date, addressing the present and future of a world that is changing dramatically. Professor Frankopan takes a fresh look at the network of relationships that are being formed along the length and breadth of the Silk Roads today, assessing the global reverberations of these continual shifts in the centre of power – all too often absent from headlines in the West. Rights have also been sold in the USA (Knopf), the Netherlands (Unieboek), Germany (Rowohlt), France (Nevicata), Italy (Mondadori) and Taiwan (Linking).
Peter Frankopan is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the Royal Asiatic Society, the Royal Anthropological Society, the Royal Geographic Society and the Royal Society of Arts. He is Director of the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research and Senior Research Fellow at Worcester College, Oxford. He is a special advisor at the UN and a senior advisor to the World Bank on transport corridors.
